Position Summary
The Tuberculosis Champion promotes awareness, education, prevention, and support related to tuberculosis (TB) within the community. The position works closely with community members, healthcare providers, and partner organizations to improve health outcomes and support individuals and families affected by TB.
Key Responsibilities
Education & Awareness
- Promote awareness regarding tuberculosis prevention and treatment.
- Deliver community education sessions and presentations.
- Develop educational materials and resources.
- Support public health campaigns and initiatives.
Client Support
- Assist individuals and families affected by tuberculosis.
- Encourage treatment adherence and follow-up care.
- Support transportation and appointment coordination when required.
- Provide culturally appropriate education and advocacy.
Community Engagement
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and agencies.
- Participate in community outreach activities.
- Maintain records and prepare reports as required.
Qualifications
- Health-related education or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of tuberculosis prevention and treatment is an asset.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills.
- Experience working within Indigenous communities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence.
- CPR and First Aid certification considered an asset.
