Position Summary
The Foster Care Worker supports foster children, foster parents, and biological families while ensuring the safety, well-being, and cultural connection of children in care. The position works collaboratively with foster families and service providers to ensure children receive quality care and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular visits with foster children and foster homes.
- Support foster parents through training, guidance, and advocacy.
- Monitor placements and document progress.
- Participate in care planning and case conferences.
- Facilitate family visits and reunification planning where appropriate.
- Ensure children maintain connections to culture, language, and community.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Child and Family Services, or related field.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Knowledge of child welfare practices.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence.
- Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, and Criminal Record Checks required.
