Position Summary

The Foster Care Worker supports foster children, foster parents, and biological families while ensuring the safety, well-being, and cultural connection of children in care. The position works collaboratively with foster families and service providers to ensure children receive quality care and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular visits with foster children and foster homes.
  • Support foster parents through training, guidance, and advocacy.
  • Monitor placements and document progress.
  • Participate in care planning and case conferences.
  • Facilitate family visits and reunification planning where appropriate.
  • Ensure children maintain connections to culture, language, and community.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Child and Family Services, or related field.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Knowledge of child welfare practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s Licence.
  • Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, and Criminal Record Checks required.
