Role Overview
The Counselling Services & Wellness Program provides culturally appropriate support focused on healing, wellness, and community well-being.
This position delivers counselling, crisis intervention, case management, and outreach services related to mental health, addictions, and trauma. The successful candidate will work with individuals, families, community members, and partner agencies to provide holistic, culturally safe care through counselling, outreach, and land-based programming.
The role requires strong crisis response, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to work independently in community settings while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake interviews, assessments, and provide individual, group, and family counselling services.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for mental health, addictions, trauma, family violence, and suicide-risk situations.
- Deliver community-based outreach services, including home visits, community presentations, and wellness activities.
- Coordinate services and collaborate with partner organizations, health services, and community agencies.
- Provide culturally appropriate, trauma-informed care practices.
- Work independently and respond effectively in high-stress or crisis situations.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services field; or
- Counselling Diploma.
Other Requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and community practices.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Child Abuse, Adult Abuse, and Criminal Record Checks may be required.
Salary
$61,629.00 – $78,251.00
