The sundance is an ancestral ceremony of First Nations people that is different from a pow wow. It is prayer sacramental ceremony in which people dance without food or water for days. The ceremony focuses on life, thanksgiving and the healing of people and communities. It can be on a personal level but some people dance to pray for family or friends, to figure out something in their own life, to find guidance and to rejuvenate their sense of wellness and well-being.
