Title: Foster Care Coordinator

 

Job Summary

The Foster Care Coordinator empowers and strengthens families to provide safe, protects children from abuse and neglect and ensures culturally appropriate placements/care for children who cannot return to their families. They also provide support and services under the auspices of the CFS mandate, assess individuals and the community as well as provide support services and advocacy to foster parents that include training opportunities, recruitment and maintenance management and licensing of foster homes.

 

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities

  • Protects children from abuse and neglect
  • Provides support and services to maintain the family unit
  • Provides alternative culturally appropriate placements for children who cannot return to their immediate families
  • Recognized and addresses community needs
  • Provides appropriate referrals to meet the need of children and families
  • Functions as a multidisciplinary team
  • Case management reviews to ensure files are updated on a regular basis
  • Reports areas of barriers within the system that prohibit families from reaching their fullest potential
  • Development and execution of resources, any protection concerns and reunifications
  • Encouraged to be creative in service delivery
  • Conducts home visits
  • Refers to all types of services (depending on the level of need)
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, results-oriented and effective time management
  • Ability to work independently or as part of an integrated team
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Qualifications:

  • BSW and a minimum 2 years of working experience
  • Willing to travel to engage in ongoing training
  • Must be able to work at times under stressful/difficult situations
  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license
  • A criminal record check and Child Abuse Registry is a requirement of all FCWC positions
  • The ability to speak Cree is an asset

 

Salary: $60,019.00
